Finding Quality Information On Diabetes

When a person or family member is diagnosed with diabetes there may be overwhelming concern and alarm about the disease and what the life of that individual will be like. One great thing about the disease of diabetes is that there are a lot of great resources available for anyone who needs to or wants to learn about the disease. A person can easily find quality information in several places. No matter where a person is at or what their preferred method of learning is there is some information on diabetes.

Informative Publications

There are several great publications with quality information on diabetes. The American Diabetic Association has a monthly magazine called Diabetes Forecast that provides information on all avenues of living with the disease. The magazine offers the most up to date valid information available at an affordable price.

Another good publication that may prove valuable is Diabetic Living published by Meredith Corporation. This magazine provides diabetic recipes, exercise tips, and information on new treatments and equipment. Readers of this magazine find it easy to understand and very informative.

Internet Information

A lot of valuable information can be found at many internet web sites. Probably the most informative and current information can be found at the American Diabetes Association web site www.diabetes.org. This site offers information at all levels of education and is focused on providing the best knowledge available for both medical professionals and people who suffer with the disease. This non-profit association is deeply involved in funding and seeking better treatments and even a cure for the disease.

The Food and Drug Administration has a great internet site providing information on diabetes at www.fda.gov/diabetes/. Because the FDA regulates all of the medication and much of the equipment used in treating the disease they have current information on all aspects of care. This site will also have information on the latest recalls of medications and what the concerns are.

Community And Hospital Courses

Many of the hospitals and community education facilities offer courses and support groups for diabetics and their family members. These courses typically will be conducted by a team of professionals who are specialists in the field. People find these classes very helpful because they have the opportunity for questions and answers and because they can receive individualized answers. A person who wants to take one of the courses can find them by calling their local hospital, asking their physician or by talking with the local health department.
