This is because in more ways than one, some herbs and alternative medicines may have less dangerous side effects than chemically formulated drugs. Herbs for depression can really help to alleviate the condition of the individual suffering from depression.

Licorice is considered one of the more effective herbs for treating depression. Really, it can affect the mood of an individual and overcomes depression. This herb acts as MOA inhibitor to be able to change the mood.
There is another herb called Saint John's Wort. It is a great herb for treating depression and anxiety. It is considered more effective than any other method of treating depression, such as chemical drugs. This herb has little side effects as well.
Ginkgo Biloba and Siberian Ginseng are other herbs for depression that can also effectively treat it. Ginkgo Biloba affects the brain by increasing circulation of the blood in the brain and making our mind more alert and less depressed. Although, not as effective as licorice and Saint John's Wort, Ginkgo Biloba can help alleviate the mood of a person.
Siberian Ginseng is another of several herbs for depression that has shown a good possibility of a treatment. It functions by normalizing and effectively giving balance to the neurotransmitters in our brain. It can also function as an MAO inhibitor which can help people suffering from depression.
There are many other herbs for depression which include but are not limited to coriander, celery, dill, caraway, fennel and nutmeg. These are among the few that can help us deal with depression.
