The task is not easy, with hundreds and even thousands of products out there try to resist the temptation. Many of the products offer things that as you can find out by the results, are very far from what they can really do for your skin. There are products out there though that are good for your skin, so the most important thing is to know how to treat your particular skin. This all starts with a good gentle cleanser every morning and at night, complimented by an antioxidant rich toner. To vary your options, at night an ex foliating scrub is a good choice but if your skin is sensitive use only two or three times a week. Finish up with a moisturizer in the morning and at night just before you go to bed, and if you wear makeup use moisturizer before you put it on.

You will want to add a little more time to your skin care routine as you get older. For example, you will want to incorporate an eye treatment into your morning routine and a night cream into your evening routine. These creams are formulated especially for the delicate area around the eyes, where the skin looses elasticity and will be the first area to show wrinkles.

A sunscreen should be the most important step on your every day routine, make sure it has a rating of at least 15. Nothing is more damaging than the sun. Prematurely aged skin, unsightly wrinkles are both caused by the suns harmful rays, added to this, it can cause skin cancer, which is one of the top cancers affecting Americans these days.

Also harmful to your skin, and health, is cigarette smoke, even if it is just second-hand. If you smoke, seek aid to quit, and if you spend a lot of time around a smoker or in a smoke-filled location, try to find ways you can change that - not just for your skin, but for your health as well. Even if your skin looks great, lung cancer can strike and it your skin really won't matter.

For serious skin care, if you have acne or similar trouble spots, see a dermatologist. They can help you set up a plan that best suits you. And it is also important to remember, though you may not feel as if you need to go out of your way to take care of your skin today, anti-aging skin care is best done preventatively, so take care of your skin today so it looks and feels great tomorrow.
