The Image of a Fitness Model
Living a healthy lifestyle is much more than a hobbyist pursuit. There are a host of physical and mental benefits that can derive from regular exercise and proper diet. The more strict and committed one is to a proper diet and exercise regiment, the greater the physical and mental benefits will be. Of the physical benefits, not only will the individual gain an increase in a positive outward, external appearance, but the person will also gain the added advantage of increased healthy cardiovascular conditioning. In today s society, most people put a great emphasis on the outward physical appearance. This is why it is no secret that a fitness model is a revered figure in popular culture.
What a Fitness Model Represents
If there was a proper generalized assessment of what a fitness model represented it would be the attainment of physical perfection through hard work. No one looks at a fitness model and says that the fitness model is lucky. Most people realize that such a look is derived from hard work and strong commitments to exercise. Additionally, such a model is a standard bearer for discipline. After all, it does take a serious amount of discipline at the dinner table to know when enough is enough. So, while it is true that a great deal of reverence is bestowed upon the individual s physical gifts, there will also be a certain amount of reverence paid to the work ethic of the fitness model as well.
The Attainable Look
There will be those cynics that make the assessment that fitness models are a negative influence because they create an image that is unattainable for the average person. In a way, there is a certain smattering of truth to such a sentiment. Part of the reason for this is the fact that a professional fitness model makes a living based on exercise. Because of this, significant hours of the day are dedicated to exercise. The volume of these hours is far more than the average person could possibly commit. While there is a certain sense of truth to the fitness model s look being unattainable, is the look really necessary for the average person who simply wants to stay in shape. The answer to this question is: no, not really.
The effect that a fitness model can have on the average person is that of a role model. While the average person may not be able to achieve such a look, the person can use a fitness model as inspiration to undertake a program designed to get them into better shape. As such, much of the psycho-babble regarding the negative images models project is somewhat unfounded.
