Natural Relief for Back Pain with Chiropractic

by Michelle Caruso

Once an injury to the spine has occurred, regular, often persistent back pain can follow; proprietary medication is often the first route to back pain relief; Pain relief is possible with the medications available but that is all they do and the reason for the pain continues. While there are a host of prescription medications that help with pain relief, many are doing nothing more than masking the symptoms instead of tackling the underlying cause of the pain. Medication should be used sparingly and under the strict supervision of a medical professional.

Back pain is often caused by muscle strain and repeated strenuous exercises; it is not uncommon for a person to cause permanent damage from just lifting something incorrectly. Of course the most common way to injure your spine is by lifting heavy weights or lifting them incorrectly. Many people are now turning to other methods of gaining back pain relief which do not include the use of drugs.

Tense muscles in the back can be eased just by gentle stretching; this provides relief and is simple to carry out. Another type of treatment called reflexology uses a massage technique applied to the feet; some people are now discovering its benefits as a back pain remedy. Another benefit to reflexology is how it can improve the circulation which helps to ease tense muscles.

Although acupuncture is an age old Chinese medical practice that has been used for thousands of years, it is only recently that the Western world has accepted it as an alternative form of back pain relief. The Chinese believe we all have this special energy force flowing through us and when we become sick it doesn't flow correctly. By using thin needles placed into the body at specific points, they can free this trapped (unhealthy) energy. Acupuncture can be used to treat almost all kinds of ailments including pain relief around the spine and studies made in acupuncture have provided results which are quite astounding.

Chiropractic care is a well known now and a successful natural way to help back pain. Chiropractors will treat spinal subluxations. When someone has subluxations the symptoms can be localized in some part of the back and even radiate down to the thighs, buttocks and legs. Doctors of chiropractic draw on a huge wealth of knowledge. They have a lot of experience with treating and helping in preventing back pains and back injuries.
